Welcome to the American Musicological Society’s South-Central Chapter. Our region encompasses institutions throughout northern Alabama, northern Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, western Virginia, and western North Carolina. The American Musicological Society (AMS) aims to expand understanding of music and sound through research, teaching, learning, and advocacy. It accomplishes this mission through a variety of grants, fellowships, and awards; publishing its annual Journal, and hosting annual meetings.

The South-Central chapter hosts one annual meeting during the spring semester, programming a variety of papers given by professors, students, and other interested scholars. More information about all AMS chapters can be found on the chapter pages of the Society’s website.
